
Essex Walking Football League are seeking bids to host competitions For the 2020 Season
The EWFL Management Committee continues to seek bids from clubs to host EWFL Competition fixtures around the County of Essex including the five London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest for the 2020 season, which opens on the 1st March 2020 and is to finish on the 31st October 2020. There is a month’s break expected to be in August 2020.
For a venue or playing facility to achieve accredited status for league fixtures purposes, a venue must:
- Have the use of at least two outdoor or indoor 3G or 4G or any ‘caged’ (enclosed area) 3G pitch that must include a boundary run-off and has the pitch and goal areas clearly marked.
- Be able to accommodate at least 12 six-a-side games per tournament across at least two pitches. From Season 2019 This is now dependent on the size the Division. The League has the right to review this each season.
- Ensure the pitches and goal areas can be marked out to the criteria as set out in the current EWFL Rules Section 2, Law 1.
- Have access to a club house for social purposes and therefore be able to provide food and drink (this is optional but must supply tea or coffee and biscuits at the very least) after EWFL tournaments.
- Have an approved first-aider available on site on match days. The first-aider must hold at least a current certificate from either the FA Emergency Aid (EA) or St. John’s Ambulance at Work (EFAW).
- Have access to and have a member available that is able to use a defibrillator on a match day and be aware of its immediate location. The location of which, the League has the right to review each season.
- Have the use of dressing/changing rooms with showers.
- Have the use of adequate car parking facilities on a match day. NB: Host clubs are to ensure that that the car park can accommodate a large number of vehicles.
- Be able to accommodate EWFL fixtures either during week days or at weekends or at weekday evenings.
- Be able to provide equipment e.g. match balls and bibs (if necessary) as set out in the current EWFL Rules Section 2, Law 2.
- Co-ordinate with the EWFL’s Referee Appointments Officer regarding assigning officials for the event.
The following type of pitches are excluded:
- Any five-a-side ‘caged’ (enclosed area) pitch. A ‘caged’ (enclosed area) pitch means one that has no boundary run-off and is enclosed by barriers of fences and the barriers or fences are used as markings or
- boundaries of the playing area.
- Any type of grass pitch.
- Any astro pitch that contains sand or that may contain any other type of abrasive material or being unable to drain away any surface water. (these are excluded from Season 2019.)
- Any outdoor pitch that may contain any other type of abrasive material or being unable to drain away any surface water. (these are excluded from Season 2019.)
- Any outdoor pitch that may contain abrasive materials e.g. tarmac or concrete.

No metal studs, flat-soled trainers or plastic bladed boots. Shin pads are to be worn. Host Clubs: Leisure World (Direct), Harwich Hornets.

No metal studs, flat-soled trainers or plastic bladed boots. Shin pads are to be worn. Host Clubs: Harlow Town (Direct).
PlayFootball Colchester, St. Helena School, Sheepen Road, Colchester, Essex CO3 3LE. Type of Pitch: 7-a-side 3G that includes a boundary run-off and has the pitch area clearly marked. Footwear Restrictions: Moulded studded boots only. No metal studs or trainers. Shin pads are to be worn. Host Clubs: Harwich Hornets, Cornard United.
Melbourne Park Chelmsford City Sport & Athletics Centre, Salerno Way, Chelmsford, Essex CM1 2EH. Type of Pitch: 3G. Footwear Restrictions: Moulded studded boots only. No trainers or astro-turf trainers. Shin pads are to be worn. Host Club: Chelmsford City.
Len Forge Centre, Eastwoodbury Lane, Southend,Essex SS2 6UH. Type of Pitch: 3G. Footwear Restrictions: No metal studs or muddy boots. Shin pads are to be worn. Host Club: Eastwood Falcons.
The Douglas Ayre Centre, 148 Coppermill Lane, Walthamstow, London E17 7HE. Type of Pitch: 3G. Footwear Restrictions: No restrictions. Astro trainers (pimple studs) and moulded boots are allowed. Shin pads are to be worn. Other Conditions: Restricted to Over 60’s and Over 65’s Divisional games only. Host Club: Leyton Orient.
